About Us

University of Dodoma Actuarial Students’ Society (UDASS) is a union of first year, second year and third years student, pursuing bachelor degree in Actuarial Statistics at the University of Dodoma. UDASS was officially founded on January 2020 by 2019/20 first year Actuarial Statistics students after the University of Dodoma decided to introduce the course at the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences under the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, with a major objective of providing a platform for actuarial students to engage with fellow actuarial students of other universities (ASSAUD – UDSM & IASA – IFM), and actuarial profession stakeholders in the industry.

Our Story

Once upon a time at UDASS, during a particularly intense actuarial workshop, the power went out unexpectedly. Amidst the darkness, the students and faculty improvised by using their phones as makeshift torches to continue their discussions.

In the midst of the chaos, one student, known for his quick wit, exclaimed, “Well, I guess you could say we’re really calculating risk in the dark now!” The spontaneous burst of laughter that followed lightened the mood and turned what could have been a stressful situation into a memorable bonding experience for everyone involved. From that day on, whenever the power flickered, students affectionately referred to it as a “risk assessment session” and embraced the opportunity to showcase their adaptability in the face of unexpected challenges.
